of New Orleans' best known acoustic roots acts, Jeff & Vida
have recently relocated to Nashville TN.
With

AND REVIEWS
Sugar
Maple Traditional Music Festival dances through the rain:
New Orleans acoustic roots act Jeff & Vida, with
bass ace Jimmy Sutton rounding out the sound, were the "perfect
band for this type of day," according to Bill Malone,
renowned country music historian and MC for Saturday's
lineup. "You can tell it works," Malone said
of the trio's appeal, "when you get that many people
out on the dance floor." -Isthmus, Madison WI 8/20/07
Jeff
and vida return to country's working class roots...The
real blue plate special comes with their harmonies. Call
it old school country. More Austin than Nashville. -RL, Sing
Out Magazine
Unclassifiable
but terrific: New Orleans' Jeff & Vida Band, a bluegrass-influenced
group with a bluesiness at its core and a powerful stage presence.
-Steve Pick, No Depression
Jeff
& Vida may as well have been spoon-fed grits in a Nashville
manger. As true as just about any old-timey country and bluegrass
youll hear these days! -Bethea
(Atlantas Creative Loafing)
...the
songs pack even more emotional impact live and Jeff &
Vida will receive plenty of genuine We should do this
again soon invitations at the end of the evening.
-Miller (Kansas Citys Pitch Weekly)
The
duo has probably broken a lot of hearts in the Big Easy but
no ones ever thought Chicago was anything but the big
difficult. Theyve been staking out their turf at local
venues and their bittersweet bite has a natural home.
-Monica Kendrick (Chicago Reader)
Ive
been fortunate enough to catch Jeff & Vida a couple of
times in Dallas. The first time I saw them I was amazed. The
second time I had fun watching everyone else be amazed...they
not only fit in the Americana category but I believe
they define its roots. -Michael Johnson (Dallas Rockzilla
World)
Its
the voice, the stories and the honesty of the music that make
Jeff & Vida a must see! -Mike Cobley (Brighton
Review, UK)
...not
only do they provide an acoustic balance thats on par
with bluegrass pickers up north, its also vibrantly
fresh! -OFFBEAT (New Orleans) |
